Troy Luna’s parents told him to never trust unknown adults, but they hoped that their boy would never have to use this advice. They were wrong.

One day, when Troy Luna boarded his bus to return home from school, he noticed something ‘weird’ about the bus driver.

This 10-year-old’s keen observation and bravery has been credited with saving his fellow students from a potentially life-threatening situation.

“A smoky kind of smell and like a weird smell together,” Troy described the smell coming from the bus driver.

The California student kept a close eye on the bus driver and was alarmed by her driving.

“She stuck on the brakes real hard and a couple of the kids went flying,” Troy told CBS Sacramento .

Called 911 and driver was stopped
When the driver then missed a turn and sped onto the highway Troy knew something wasn’t right.

The smart 10-year-old called 911 and officers were there to apprehend the driver at her next stop.

“I was like, ‘Okay, I’m just going to make the 911 call.’” Troy said. “And I made the call.

“My friends were trying to talk me out of it,” Troy said, according to Fox News “I said, ‘I don’t care, I don’t feel right.’ So, I just did it.”

‘Failed sobriety test’
The driver, who was in charge of around 30 kids on the bus aged between 5 and 10 years old, was stopped by police and failed a sobriety test.

She was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of children, CBS Sacramento reported.

Despite what his friends were telling him, Troy trusted his instincts and did the right thing. It’s so important to know when to take a step away from the crowd. What a hero!
