An 8-month-old baby boy missing for a day was found in a Louisiana field alive and well, according to reports.
Thankfully, the baby, identified as Niguel Jackson, was recovered before any harm could come to him. His mother had arrived at a firehouse in need of medical help on March 15.
After being taken to the hospital by first responders, the mother revealed that her baby was alone. The woman’s family, meanwhile, told authorities that her baby had been with her when she had left for the fire station seeking medical attention.
Once Nigel’s mother had been treated, she was taken to the search area to assist police in the recovery of her baby.
Baton Rouge Fire Department representative Curt Monte explained: “We were able to bring the mother to the scene, city police took the mother, the mother showed them an area on Plank Road near a church.”
Some hours later – and after a concerted effort involving both ground and air search parties – little Niguel was found “alive and healthy” in a field along Plank Road, Baton Rouge. Investigators had feared low temperatures if he wasn’t recovered by nightfall.
“The timing didn’t give us a lot of hope, but the baby was tough, ” EMS spokesman Mike Chustz told The Advocate.
Lieutenant Don Coppola, spokesperson for Baton Rouge Fire Department, confirmed that Niguel’s mother would not be facing charges. As per reports, the incident was directly related to the medical issue for which she had been treated.
“The medics jumped on him and started treating him right away and … I think he’s gonna be fine,” Chustz added.
“You know, it’s still in a dangerous area but still think that it’s just a miracle basically to see the condition he was in. I did not expect that at all.
Well, despite the obviously bizarre circumstances, I’m grateful that this story ended well and that Niguel was found safe and unharmed.
