Latana Chai, a mother from California, was recently hit by a terrible tragedy.

The unthinkable happened when she was home with her seven month old baby girl Masailah. Masailah is about the size of the family’s pit bull, Sasha, who is eight months old.

At about midnight on June 3, the mother suddenly heard Sasha barking loudly and scratching at the backyard door. She noticed that the dog’s barks were particularly intense, and immediately felt alarmed. She knew something wasn’t right. This was very unlike the family’s gentle four-legged member.

She opened the door to see what the dog was barking at outside — and that’s when she saw black smoke and flames coming out of the neighboring house. The fire was quickly spreading to Latana’s house, writes KTVU.

What Sasha did next is now being hailed by animal lovers all over the world.

This example of a pit bull’s love and affection is exemplified in the story of Sasha the pit bull and how she saved her family from what could have been a tragic event.

Latana ran upstairs for Masailah, but Sasha was already well on her way.

Latana watched in awe how the family pit bull bit into the baby’s diaper and dragged her out of danger.

The mother could then safely take everyone to security outside.

If it weren’t for Sasha’s warning, the family might have been caught in the flames.

Sasha has been around since Masailah’s birth and it’s clear that the two share a special bond.

Just take a look at this news report below.

Unfortunately, many believe that pit bulls are still only fighting dogs that are aggressive by nature.

While they could look mean on the outside, many of them have hearts of gold.

This story proves once again that pit bulls are wonderful family dogs and it is up to their owners to raise them right!

Other animals who saved lives
It is not so common for wild animals to step in and help people, but it has happened. One great example is the story of three lions that saved a young girl from kidnappers in Ethiopia.

Young women in Ethiopia often live in fear. Sadly there are numerous cases of women being abducted and forced into marriage.

This kind of terrible experience befell one 12-year-old when seven men kidnapped her with the intention of forcing her to marry one of them, local police told NBC News.

She had been beaten several times and was missing for a week. But the kidnappers couldn’t have guessed that three lions would be the ones to come to her rescue.

A small herd of lions discovered the men with the girl in distress and promptly sent the abductors off running for their lives. Meanwhile, they stood guard and protected the little girl for about half a day.

“They stood guard until we found her and then they just left her like a gift and went back into the forest,” Sgt. Wondimu Wedajo told NBC news.

“If the lions had not come to her rescue, then it could have been much worse. Often these young girls are raped and severely beaten to force them to accept the marriage,” he added.

Heard of Flipper? The reality is perhaps not so far from the fiction.

A group of family and friends was swimming off the coast of New Zealand when a pod of dolphins approached them and herded them together.

It turns out that the dolphins were trying to protect the family from a great white shark, according to The Guardian.

”They started to herd us up, they pushed all four of us together by doing tight circles around us,” one family member told the New Zealand Press Association.

This last amazing story is about three beavers who saved an orphaned boy and kept him company until he could get back to civilization.

Rheal Guindon, a young boy in Ontario, Canada, was out on a fishing trip with his parents when the disaster struck. Rheal stayed on shore but could witness his parents’ boat tip over, and his parents tragically drown.

Panic-stricken, he attempted to walk to the nearest town to get help, but as the sun set, he realized he would have to spend the night outside.

As he lay on the ground, traumatized by this ordeal, he felt “a warm, furry body” press up against him. Thinking it was a dog, he fell asleep. On waking up the next morning, he found three wild beavers snuggled up against him. They had saved him from freezing to death overnight when temperatures had dipped below zero.
