A pregnant woman, her husband and their two small children were murdered in a head-on collision on a Texas motorway after an SUV drove down the wrong side of the road.

Melodi Boivin, 21, and Xavier Caballero, 23, died at the scene in Lubbock, Texas, and their two children, Marcellus, 2, and Lezlie, 1, died later in the hospital.

The family, who were expecting their third child in the coming months, were travelling near the Marsha Sharp Motorway and Upland Avenue intersection in Lubbock, Texas, around 1.30 a.m. on Sunday.

Dad-of-two Xavier was travelling in the right lane of the motorway when he was hit head-on by an SUV.

George Wallace, 46, was behind the wheel of the SUV. According to police, Wallace was driving on the wrong side of the motorway when he crashed with the family.

Melodi and Xavier, as well as Wallace, were all killed at the scene.

The two children were transported to the hospital in an attempt to save their lives, but they died as a result of their injuries.

Both children were in car seats in the rear of the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to police.

According to police, Melodi’s unborn child died as a result of the horrific crash.

‘My name is Kittye Tannery and I am creating this money for a dear family friend Janice,’ says the family’s GoFundMe page.

Melodi, Janice’s granddaughter, Melodie’s husband Xavier, and their two children were all killed in a head-on collision.

‘Four funerals is a lot, and I know Janice will appreciate any assistance we can provide. ALL contributions will be used for the funeral. Please remember Melodi Boivin, Xavier Caballero, Marcellus Boivin, Lezlie Caballero, and Melodi and Xavier’s unborn baby in your prayers.’

Family and friends have flocked to social media to express their condolences. ‘I’m sorry you’re gone,’ one individual wrote about Melodi. You were incredible, and it was an honour to call you a friend.

‘You were a fantastic person in general, and you lighted up the room with excellent energy. My heartfelt condolences go out to both families. ‘I love you all, and you can rest peacefully.’

‘Still in disbelief,’ commented another of Xavier. Xavier Caballero, you were a wonderful friend with whom I had many memories. It doesn’t feel genuine. ‘Take it easy, old friend.’
