A former Louisiana teacher has pleaded guilty to a slew of horrific sex crimes against her students. In one such case, Cynthia Perkins fed her students cupcakes that were laced with her ex-husband’s sperm on two occasions. The 36-year-old will also be testifying against her ex-partner, 44-year-old Dennis Perkins, in exchange for a plea deal that will land her in jail for only 41 years. Dennis, a former Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT member, has also been charged with dozens of child sex crimes, including obscenity, video voyeurism, and possessing child porn.
In 2019, cops received a tip about the couple from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Per Daily Mail, the pair had allegedly been spotted naked with a minor in a photo. Thus officers raided the couple’s home and arrested them back in October 2019. On the day of her arrest, Cynthia who used to be a junior high English teacher at Westside Junior High School resigned from her position while Dennis, who was a special operations lieutenant at the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office since 2002, was immediately fired.
While investigating their property during the raid, police found evidence of other crimes, including photographic evidence that the former teacher’s students had consumed sperm-laced cupcakes she had prepared alongside her husband, according to Fox News. Additionally, they found hidden cameras in the attic and in their bedroom as well as an iPhone which contained disturbing pictures. There was evidence that pointed at the fact that the couple had raped a child who was between 9 and 10 years old.

Shortly after their arrest, Cynthia filed for divorce claiming that her husband had manipulated her into committing ghastly crimes and that he was the “mastermind” behind it all, reports WFLA. That being said, both were charged with over 150 sex crimes, including second-degree rape, child pornography, and indulging in harmful substances. Cynthia was supposed to face 68 years behind bars but she chose to take a plea deal that would dismiss a few years bring down the maximum years to 41.
She then admitted to many of their disgusting actions, including an incident where they filmed a juvenile bathing. Per the Livingston Parish News, she waived her right to appeal. “She not only waived any right to appeal, and attempt to avoid conviction, but she also spared the victims from reliving her horrific crimes during this particular trial,” revealed Attorney General Jeff Landry.
“Today’s conviction is in the best interest of our victims and justice,” added Landry. Meanwhile, Assistant Attorney General Barry Milligan agreed that justice was served. “Today Cynthia Perkins pled guilty to three very serious felony charges so that will enable the family of the juvenile victim to get justice without having to go through a trial.”
“We weighed all the options and available information, and considering the circumstances… we really feel as though this was the best decision,” noted Cynthia’s lawyer, James Spokes. “Cynthia decided this was in her best interest. She feels a lot of remorse over what’s happened. We side with her when she says this was the best decision she could make at this time.”
