This special couple, who have been married for 75 years, know all about the importance of family.

The couple’s great-granddaughter Kayla Tracy shared their story to show what true love looks like and the hope they both had at the prospect of a new baby to hold.

Kayla said her great-grandfather served in WWII and lives by the motto ‘Work every day or you’ll be shorted one.’

“This man is blind and has lost 90 percent of his hearing, and still works a log slitter and feeds the fish in their pond on his 85-acre land,” Kayla told Love What Matters.

The couple raised three boys and now have seven great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

“Seventy five years. Seventy five years is how long these two lovebirds have been married. Within those 75 years there have been many heartaches, as well as laughs and good times. They are a Godly couple through and through and were always at church every Sunday,” Kayla said.

But recently the family received some devastating news. Kayla’s 92-year-old great-grandmother was told that she only had three weeks left to live after her doctor said she was showing signs of renal failure.

Kayla said her sister decided to quit her job to take care of her. Her sister was also pregnant at the time. She cared for their great-grandmother until she went into labor at 36 weeks.

“My great-grandmother would tell her, ‘I just want to live long enough to see that baby girl.’ The day Magnolia Jean arrived, my great-grandmother was so excited! Especially since Magnolia is named after her, Jean Roper,” Kayla said.

As soon as her sister gave birth she said her great-grandmother started to show signs of recovery. She was making meals and doing chores around the house; she couldn’t wait until she could hold her new great-great-grandchild.

Kayla, who is a professional photographer, captured the special moment on camera.

Kayla said her great-grandmother continued to get stronger and nine weeks after she was given the heartbreaking diagnosis she and her husband celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary – and Kayla was there to capture images of the two on their 85-acre estate.

“Taking these photos is one of the many reasons I became a photographer. To be able to pause these moments for my family and for them, means everything to me,” said Kayla, who runs her own photography business Kayla Tracy Photography.

“I enjoy photographing them every second I get. I am so blessed to have been able to capture such true love. Such a love I can only hope for with my husband. I want everyone to see these photos and know, true love is real.”

The love these two have for each other is evident in these beautiful images. I’m glad Jean got to spend time with the family’s latest addition, it clearly gave her a new-found strength to carry on.
