After a person becomes a parent, their entire life revolves around their child. A parent wants to make sure they are always around to do everything they can for their child.

But sometimes life has different plans that we never see coming…

Shannon Sime and Scott Sime had a fairytale love story. The two started out as close friends who realized they had feelings for one another. After this Shannon flew from the UK to relocate to Gold Coast, Australia so they could be together.

Shannon was a lovely spirited person. On Christmas, she would participate in food drives for homeless people and she routinely cut hair for victims of domestic abuse to help get their confidence back up.

“Shannon is the most amazing person I’ve ever met,” Scott said of his late wife. The couple stayed together through thick and thin and were together for the long haul.

After spending ten years together, the couple finally decided on having a child. On June 22, 2022, they welcomed their first child together, Harlow. The couple was ecstatic at the idea of raising a child together.

But things quickly took a turn for the worse. On August 5, 2022, Shannon suffered from a stroke. When Scott realized something was wrong, he immediately called emergency services.

Medical professionals at the hospital did their best to resuscitate her and ran tests to help treat her. Each passing minute was agony for Scott until he was told that Shannan had passed away.

Shannan was just 29 years old at the time of her death. She passed away believing she still had a lot of life left to live and hence left a lot of goals unachieved.

Friends and family were shocked and devastated at the loss. The couple did not have a lot of family in Australia but shared their highs and lows with friends they had made over the years.

A friend of the couple, Daniel O’Hara, said, “It’s been extremely tough. We were so close to them but so far away in Adelaide as they were in the Gold Coast.”

Her friends attested to her kind and giving nature. Telling the world about how even in her death, she helped five people by donating organs. Shannon’s heart went to someone who was only given 24 hours to live.

Scott is still in disbelief at the loss of his wife. He cannot comprehend the loss he has gone through. He had always imagined raising their daughter together, both Shannon and Scott side by side but that will not be the case anymore.

But he is glad she was there for a while, even if it wasn’t as long as they had hoped. “She’s made this world a much better place, and it comforts me in knowing how many positive impacts she’s had on people’s lives from every corner of the globe.”

Scott even wrote a heartfelt note dedicated to his wife and saying that he was glad she chose to spend her time on earth with him.

Scott’s friends set up a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for him as he struggled to look after his daughter full-time and hence could not work. And while he figured out his next move, his friends wanted him to have the luxury of not worrying about money.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Shannon Sime as they navigate this huge loss.
