Although it’s been a little over a year since Blake Shelton married Gwen Stefani, he is prioritizing his relationship with his wife and her kids. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Cassie DiLaura, the country crooner shared that his music career has taken a backseat as he focuses on his partner and stepchildren.

The God’s Country singer became a stepfather to Stefani’s three sons – Kingston, 16, Zuma, 13, and Apollo, 8 – when he tied the knot with her in July 2021. “Look, I love music and I love The Voice,” he said about the music competition where he met Stefani. “I love all the cool things I get to do with my job, but those things all take a backseat now to Gwen and the kids and it’s just a new phase of my life,” he expressed.

Per TODAY, Shelton released a new music video for his song No Body, where he can be seen wearing the same mullet he rocked in the 1990s during the early phase of his career in Nashville. Despite the excitement around this, he is in no hurry to release new music. In fact, he feels lucky to be able to work at a new pace and live his life in a different way.

“I’m having fun putting out songs when I feel like it and luckily the record label allows me to do that. They always support it when I do it and my stupid ideas of doing a ’90s country video …” he shared according to Business Insider. “I just go, ‘Hey, I want to do this. Will you guys help me?’ and they’ll jump on board and we’ve had some big records that way.”

When asked how he would respond if someone told his younger self that he would end up marrying Gwen Stefani, Shelton shared that he would definitely have some questions. “I would have probably said, ‘Are you talking about that girl that holds up the orange in her video?’ I never understood until now that she’s from Orange County,” he explained.

“My entire life of knowing who Gwen Stefani even was, ‘Is that the girl that holds the orange up in the video? Oh my god, she’s so hot, but why is she obsessed with this freaking orange, you know?'” he shared.

Now, Shelton does not plan on halting his music career and says he wants to keep creating music “til [fans] fire me,” adding how serving as a judge on The Voice has helped boost his musical career.
