Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have been married for 30 years and are shining examples of enduring love, despite the distractions of living in a celebrity world.
Now Chet Hanks, the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, has grown up as Hollywood royalty in the spotlight.
But it doesn’t seem like growing up with an Oscar-winning dad, also known as Hollywood’s Mr. Nice Guy, was a walk in the park…
Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson are one of the most beloved couples in Hollywood. The pair has been married for over 34 years and have raised 4 children: Colin (44), Elizabeth (40), Truman (26), and Chet (31).
One of their sons, Chet, has made his own news quite a bit in the last few years with his rap career and anti-vax opinions.
A father of one, Chet has described himself as the “black sheep” of the family and has been vocal about growing up in the shadow of his famous parents. Chet once explained:
”If I invented a cure for cancer tomorrow, in the article it would say, ‘Tom Hanks’ Son Invents The Cure For Cancer,’ you know what I mean? It’s inevitable.”
Last year, Chet shared a video that shocked the Internet of his ex-girlfriend, Kiana Parker, allegedly attacking him.
TMZ procured the video of the struggle between Hanks and Parker on January 8 in his Texas home. Hanks appeared to have a bloody forehead from the alleged assault, but Parker was reportedly granted a restraining order against the rapper.
Parker later discussed a previous physical altercation between her and Hanks at a New Orleans hotel. Talking to Radar Online, Parker alleges that Hanks was drinking too much before or during the incident, which prompted his parents to cut him off financially. She continued:
“He was tossing me around, throwing things. That’s the night he called me a ‘ghetto Black b—h’ and a lot of hurtful things.”
She continued with an explanation of the couple accidentally locking themselves outside of their room.
Parker additionally shared later text messages where Hanks apologized for his behavior. “I didn’t mean any of that s—. But I’m really disappointed in myself for saying it,” a text message Hanks allegedly wrote to Parker read. Kiana allegedly responded, “I just Don’t [know] if this is a sign. That s–t hurt. What if I brought up rumors about ur family or just hit you where it hurt.” She added, “Idk man.”
That’s when Chet alleged that he “watched [his] mom domineer and control my dad for [his] entire life and he just sat there and took it.” Chet allegedly added: “When I feel like I’m not being respected as a man it strikes a nerve with me because it makes me feel like I’m allowing the same thing to happen to me and I’m becoming what I hated most in my father.”
“So talking about me & pushing up on me make you feel more of a man,” Kiana replied. “Again if I said anything about your family business or rumors you would be looking at me crazy.”
“I didn’t have a strong male role model to tell me … ‘Bro, f**k these people. They are just jealous of you,’” the 31-year-old said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
Despite these alleged comments, Chet has also expressed appreciation for his parents and how they raised him. According to the actor and rapper, he was not given an allowance and instead was made to live a pretty normal life.
During a 2021 interview on the “Impaulsive” podcast, Chet said, “They raised me like really, really normally… I mean I’ve just known so many kids that I grew up with that, you know, came from similar backgrounds but were raised completely different to me, that really can be like a disaster.”
Chet also starred in the film Greyhound next to his father in July of 2020.
“I’m not complaining about it, you know, it is what it is and it’s cool,” Chet told TooFab in November 2019. “I love my dad, he’s a great man, he’s a great actor, so I’m in a good position, you know what I mean?”
