Queen Elizabeth II celeberated her platinun jubilee over the weekend and her great grandaughter, Lilibet, also turned one year old.
Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, daughter of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry is named after the queen as her childhood name was Lilibet. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry released a new photo of their baby, who turned one on Saturday, on Monday. The shot was taken on Saturday during Lili’s birthday celebration at her family’s house in the United Kingdom, Frogmore Cottage.

The cottage is only half a mile from the Queen’s home in Windsor castle. The shot was taken at Frogmore Cottage at a casual, intimate garden lunch to celebrate the birthday with close friends and family. Misan Harriman, who took Meghan and Harry’s maternity photographs while they were expecting Lili, stepped behind the lens for the shot. She shared the adorable photograph on Instagram in which Lili can be seen smiling and sporting the inherited red hair from her father, reports PEOPLE.
Prince Harry, “shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honor,” with the queen, according to a spokesperson for the couple. The spokesperson added, “The Duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement, in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called.”

Queen Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, adored the name Lilibet. He once said, “Lilibet is my pride. Margaret is my joy.” Other family members, most notably her late husband Prince Philip, used it as a pet name, and it is believed that her older cousins, such as Princess Alexandra, still call her Lilibet. Lili is also named after Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.
While Archie and Lili did not attend any Jubilee celebrations, Meghan and Harry attended on Thursday for Trooping the Colour and on Friday for a thanksgiving ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral in honor of the Queen. They did not attend the Platinum Jubilee Pageant outside Buckingham Palace on Sunday, nor did they attend the Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday evening. On Sunday, they flew back to California with their children.
This was the first time the Queen met her great grandaughter as she was born in California, last year. Archie has also not visited the U.K since he was six months old.
