An Oklahoma mother is calling her 10-year-old son a “hero” and “guardian angel” after he saved her life seconds after she began seizing while swimming in their family pool.

Gavin Keeney and his mom Lori were having a “wonderful morning,” when things suddenly took a turn moments after Gavin got out of the pool.

“When I was laying on the porch playing with my dog and then I heard like splashing and kind of drowning-ish. So I got up and looked and she was just seizing in the pool,” Gavin said.

Without much of a thought, Gavin jumped up, dove in the pool, and dragged his mother over to the side of the pool where he kept her head above water until his grandfather came to help.

An outdoor security camera captured the frightening scene.

“it maybe rough for some to see but y’all…LOOK AT MY BABY SAVING MY LIFE…literally saving my life,” Lori wrote alongside a clip she shared on Facebook.

“I’m okay, I took in just a little water we think before Gavin got me. I can’t believe I just said that. I can’t believe I’m typing this. I CAN believe what I saw in Gavin, my little hero. I just can’t believe he HAD to do it and that’s what breaks my heart.”

Lori, who is epileptic and suffers from seizures, said this wasn’t the first time her son came to her rescue.

Nearly two years ago she underwent surgery and was unable to swallow well. While eating she choked on some food. Her son attempted the Heimlich maneuver on her.

“The last thing I really remember is his little arms reach around me and try with all his might, and then he said ‘I’m not strong enough, mommy. … He then called 911.”

Gavin’s quick and life-saving actions were recognized by the Kingston Police Department in Oklahoma. The police recognized him in front of his elementary classmates.

“Thank you Gavin you are a true hero and a positive light for this community,” they wrote in a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, Lori is extremely grateful to not only be alive, but for her son.

“He’s definitely my hero,” she said. “But I really do feel like he’s my guardian angel, as well.”

Gavin, you are a true hero!
