Irish actor Pierce Brosnan best known for his role as the iconic James Bond married journalist Keely Shaye Brosnan in August 2001 and the pair have been together ever. In 2017 he told PEOPLE that the secret to their long-lasting marriage was spending quality time together. “My wife and I took a short road trip up to Santa Barbara — we were going for a romantic weekend and to look at houses and drink great wine,” Brosnan said at the time. “We didn’t listen to any music, but we just listened to the sounds of each other’s voices and sorted out the world.”

The Golden Globe-nominated star recently paid tribute to his wife of 21 years wishing her a happy birthday on Monday, September 26. The James Bond actor shared a sweet snap of the two embracing each other. Smith was seen with a fresh, make-up-free look as she wore a pink flower to the side of her ear. Brosnan captioned the image, “Happy Birthday my darling @KeelyShayeBrosnan. I love you dearly. So many years of love, life, work and play. Onwards we go! ”

The two often share adoring posts to each other on social media on special occasions. On Father’s Day Smith shared a sweet tribute to her husband, the father of her two boys. She wrote, “Happy Father’s Day to my tender-hearted, funny, and always adventurous husband @piercebrosnanofficial ✨ Thank you for your immensely generous spirit and for embarking on this magical journey into parenthood with me. We love you with all our hearts.”

The couple shares two sons — Dylan, 25, and Paris, 21. Pierce also has one child, Sean, from his previous marriage with his first wife of 11 years actress Cassandra Harris. He went on to adopt Harris’ two children, Charlotte and Christopher. Brosnan lost his first wife, Cassandra, and their daughter, Charlotte to ovarian cancer, reports PEOPLE. It was a tragic time for the actor but with the support of Smith and the rest of his family, he slowly began to heal.

Recently Dylan and Paris graced the cover of GQ along with their famous 69-year-old father. The Mrs. Doubtfire actor confessed to the magazine that he did not want his children following in his footsteps to pursue a career in acting. “Just because it’s f***ing hard work,” the actor revealed. “It’s a cross to bear. You’re constructing and destroying yourself.” When asked what some of their father’s words of wisdom included they responded by saying that he taught them a lot about “preparation, passion, confidence, showing up on time.” Dylan’s favorite piece of advice from his father is “Don’t be afraid to make fun of yourself.”
